Our vision is....

To deliver sustainable economic growth in Exeter and East Devon by helping Exeter and East Devon reach its full potential.

The Exeter and East Devon area is well known for its beautiful countryside, awe inspiring coastline and historic city, a quality of life that many dream of.

But look beyond the cathedral spires and the cream teas and you will find an area which is outstripping all expectations, an area punching above its weight, and an area with significant potential for long term economic growth.

Why we believe in our vision...

We have excellent connectivity; Exeter and East Devon are accessible via both the M5 and A303 corridors, less than 2 hours from London on a direct rail link, and with an international airport on our doorstep.

We also has a University which was awarded Top university of the Year 2012, a college that was named Top college of the Year  2012 and museum gaining the highest accolade of  Top museum of the Year 2012.

We have businesses such as the Met Office offering the latest in climate change and weather prediction technology, Supacat with Innovative engineering and Design, Flybe Europe’s biggest regional airline group, Centrax with a world wide reputation for precision engineering and not forgetting our Rugby stars The Exeter Chiefs entertaining us with top flight rugby.

With many top UK businesses locating to the area or choosing to site their regional headquarters here, it is easy to see why Exeter and East Devon is poised for even bigger and better things.

The Future is here, the future is green.....

We now have a development programme worth over £2 billion, we have secured over £90 million in public sector funding packages and we are expected to deliver 20,000 new homes and over 25,000 jobs up to 2026.

This includes a Science Park, next generation Business Park, low carbon Energy Centre, heat from waste plant, an Intermodal Freight Terminal and a number of new housing developments, including the free standing new low carbon community of Cranbrook.

We aspire to the highest codes and standards for sustainable development, embracing new partners and innovative funding streams to make this happen.  We have been instrumental in the formation of the Low Carbon Task Force, a group which is championing our vision of a low carbon future for Exeter and East Devon and is driving forward more low carbon projects across our area.

This includes building developments that have low carbon emissions, district heating schemes fuelled from a sustainable source, high quality public transport links, community buildings, parks and leisure facilities.

This vision has been created to enable Exeter and East Devon to reach its full economic potential and to provide a sustainable way of living which will provide a solid foundation for future economic growth.
